How would you best describe the Columbian Soul EP?
Minimal with bollox.
Clubs or festivals? Which do you prefer?
I like both; both are a challenge in their own way... for example
festival sets are short and usually very high impact, there is no room
for journeys and you have to go flat out with all your Bangers. I
usually do re -edits of classics etc for festivals. Clubs are a
different beast - I like to play longer sets so you can take people on a
real journey, weaving between styles to paint my picture of house.
What's your favourite club?
Ministry of sound in London where I am resident; having built up a
knowledge of the room over the past three years I know all the buttons
to push at all the right times. In my opinion it's the best sound and
lighting system in the world so you can't really ask for more. To go out
and party on the very rare occasion I am not playing it would be dc10 -
it's the club of djs it's a magical place.
Who is your favourite artist to remix?
I would love to remix Sade
What's been your clubbing highlight of 2007 so far?
Playing the Nocturnal Terrace in Miami last Friday to the back drop of
the Miami skyline watching the sun come up and it going off till 11am!!
Consequently missing my flight to New York as I didn't want to leave..
whoops!.
What are the pros and cons of being a dance producer?
The pros are that you are doing a job you are massively passionate
about. Life is too short to do something you don't enjoy doing it. There
is no better feeling in the world than watching a packed club go mad
over one of your productions or mixes (well maybe one). On the flip side
you have to be married to your job if you want to get to the top of what
you are doing. This leaves little or no room for a social life....
What's in your CD player or on your iPod at the moment?
Anthony Hamilton's new album - its BAD!!!
What was the last movie you watched?
I am watching with one eye the new film with Hugh Grant and Drew
Barrymore... It's about a has-been 80's pop star, not sure what it's
called as I am doing this interview flying from Toronto back to London.
It's massively predictable but easy on the brain... perfect after the
weekend I have just had!
Of all the people in the world who would you like to meet and why?
Pele... nuff said
If your life story was to be made into a film, who would you want
to play you and who would you want to direct the movie?
Daniel Craig but he would need to get himself down the gym a bit before
hand to look the part :) and Quentin Tarantino to direct as he is don!!
