Martha Redbone - Home Of The Brave

This very nearly didn't make it onto BeatzBase. It was only it's mix of funky R&B style that got it here.

Martha has a great voice, no doubt. The tunes on this CD are a real mixed bag. Some slow, some fast, some rocky pop. A sort of funky blend of Anastasia and Gabrielle. She's been likened to Macy Gray, India Arie and Erykah Badu.

This is one of those albums that you need to listen to a couple of times. Don't dismiss it on the first listen. There are some really catch tunes here. I particularly liked Say You Love Me and Someday We'll Be Friends. But there is some cheese here too, House on the Moon for example.
